Joshua, Fury fight hits stumbling block

The highly anticipated heavyweight bout between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury has encountered new obstacles, according to promoter Frank Warren. While the proposed fight remains scheduled for November, unresolved issues surrounding the venue have led to delays. Initially, Wembley Stadium was considered the frontrunner, but concerns over the proposed start time have shifted the focus to Madison Square Garden in New York, a venue favored by Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh for its broader global reach.

This shift in venue plans has put the fight in jeopardy, as Eddie Hearn, Joshua's promoter, has warned that he would cancel the bout if the venue was set in New York without first securing an agreement to move it from the UK. In response, Warren clarified that Fury's contractual agreement differs from Hearn's account, stating that the fight will proceed "regardless of the disagreement."

Both camps have since returned to action in tune-up fights, with Fury winning by corner retirement in Thailand and Joshua overcoming an early setback against Kristian Prenga in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The disagreement between the promoters threatens to delay what has been hailed as one of the biggest fights in British boxing history.
