Joe Scarborough Skewers Pete Hegseth Amid Munitions and Naval Deployment Crises: ‘Can’t Run From the Truth’

On Friday's "Morning Joe" segment, host Joe Scarborough took aim at U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, criticizing his handling of U.S. military munitions and naval deployments. Scarborough stated that Hegseth "can't run from the truth" that he doesn't know how to lead the "greatest military on the face of the Earth." The segment focused on the USS Abraham Lincoln, a U.S. Navy carrier that has been anchored off San Diego since November 21, 2025, due to concerns over living conditions and reports of attempted suicides among sailors and Marines.

Scarborough noted that nine months have passed since the ship left port, resulting in 5,000 servicemen and women enduring moldy conditions, contaminated water, and extended separation from their families. He emphasized that readiness for military operations extends beyond weapon systems to include the well-being of the sailors and Marines.

According to Scarborough, Hegseth's advocacy for endless wars and poor planning, particularly concerning munitions and deployments, has left the U.S. Navy with insufficient carriers for relief efforts. He further questioned President Trump's decision to retain Hegseth in his role, noting that the Secretary of Defense has blocked real reporters from the Pentagon and failed to manage military operations effectively.
