Jeremiyah Love Gives Honest Assessment of Cardinals Preseason Debut

In a preseason game against the Las Vegas Raiders, third overall draft pick Jeremiyah Love showcased his potential as Arizona Cardinals fans could see more of in his NFL career. The former Notre Dame running back, who was a Heisman contender, finished with 58 yards on 11 carries, just one yard shy of teammate Corey Kiner’s 59-yard total.

Love admitted that he was initially hesitant, trying to feel out how defenders tackled and moved, but as the game progressed, he became increasingly comfortable, starting to play more freely. Love believes his next outing will allow him to play as freely as he wants, confident he understands what to expect. As he became more comfortable, Love demonstrated explosive plays, speed, and the ability to cause defenders to miss tackles, including a second-quarter play where he jumped over a defender for extra yards on a crucial rush.

Although he did not score any touchdowns, Love contributed to drives with first-down rushing plays, aiding the Cardinals' offensive efforts. The Cardinals will host the Dallas Cowboys on Aug. 22 before their preseason finale against the Green Bay Packers on Aug. 28, with Love likely making his regular-season debut on Sept. 13 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
