Individuals commit corruption, not parties, says Hamzah

Parti Wawasan Negara president Hamzah Zainudin contends that individuals, not political parties, are responsible for corruption. During an interview with FMT, the PN deputy chairman emphasized that it is unfair to link a party to corruption due to a single individual's actions. "Corruption is not committed by a party, and it is parties that are entering into this cooperation.

So, we should not speak as though parties are the same as those who commit corruption," he stated. The PN leader argued that allegations of corruption should not hinder cooperation between political parties, such as the current understanding between Barisan Nasional (BN) and Perikatan Nasional (PN). Hamzah highlighted that the BN-PN collaboration was formed to win the Negeri Sembilan state election, where they secured 25 of the 36 seats, mostly in Malay-majority constituencies.

However, this partnership has faced criticism over alleged corruption and abuse of power linked to BN's past government. The royal commission of inquiry (RCI) report on Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) was released in July 29, revealing governance and financial management issues. Despite these allegations, Hamzah maintained that Malay unity should remain a priority in future elections, but acknowledged the need to consider demographic realities when shaping a political agenda acceptable to all groups.
