Individuals commit corruption, not parties, says Hamzah

Parti Wawasan Negara president Hamzah Zainudin has stated that it is unfair to associate an entire political party with corruption because of an individual's wrongdoing. Speaking to FMT, the PN deputy chairman emphasized that corruption is committed by individuals, not parties. Hamzah argued that parties should not be treated as if they are the same as those who commit corruption when forming cooperation.

The understanding between Barisan Nasional (BN) and Perikatan Nasional (PN), which won 25 out of 36 seats in the recent Negeri Sembilan state election, was built on a Malay-Muslim unity narrative. However, this cooperation has faced allegations of corruption and abuse of power, particularly related to 1MDB and the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report on the Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH).

Hamzah acknowledged that Malay unity remains an important consideration for future elections, but stressed the need to consider demographic realities when shaping a political agenda acceptable to all groups. He emphasized that uniting the majority community, followed by participation from other communities, can create a common national objective, calling Wawasan as a bridge between political parties.
