India hits back at Norway FM’s Kashmir remarks during Pakistan visit

India reacted strongly to Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide's comments about Kashmir during his visit to Islamabad. Eide's remarks came during a media briefing with Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. Eide's visit, marking the first by a Norwegian foreign minister in a decade, aimed to discuss various regional issues, including the longstanding dispute over Kashmir and the impact of India's decision to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty on the volatile security situation in the region.

In response, India's spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, firmly stated that all of Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh are an integral and inalienable part of India. He emphasized that the focus should be on the atrocities occurring in illegally occupied Pakistan-administered Kashmir and the use of this territory for cross-border terrorism. Jaiswal reiterated India's stance on the Indus Waters Treaty, asserting that there has been no change in the country's position despite Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's criticism.

Sharif had lambasted India's unilateral suspension of the treaty, following a terror attack in Pahalgam last year. Pakistan's Prime Minister declared that the water resources of Pakistan are non-negotiable, warning that India would face direct consequences if it doesn't reconsider its actions.
