IEC ensures that persons with disabilities are not marginalized

The Electoral Commission (IEC) has pledged to ensure that persons with disabilities are not marginalized in the upcoming November fourth elections. This commitment follows a National Briefing hosted by the IEC on Thursday, where they discussed ways to address the concerns of citizens with disabilities.

Fikile Moya, the General Manager for Communications at the IEC, revealed that one of the key aims is to clarify the options available for citizens with extreme ailments. She noted that many members of such groups were unaware that they could apply for special votes and had not voted in previous elections due to a lack of awareness.

Moya emphasized that sessions like the one held on Thursday play a crucial role in raising awareness about the possibility of applying for special votes. She explained that the Electoral Commission can visit individuals who are in hospitals or at home, enabling them to cast their votes from these locations.
