At the age of 19, his first significant contract set him up well, enabling him to purchase his first apartment and a used car, a Peugeot 206, for 60,000 Rand. This amount felt like winning the jackpot, marking a substantial jump from his previous earnings at Maritzburg United.

Morton recalled a significant pay increase when he signed with SuperSport United, moving from the 30s to the 60s in terms of his salary range. This jump represented a major advancement in his career, allowing him to take on new challenges and responsibilities. Among his most lucrative contracts, Morton noted a period when he was earning between 60 and 80 thousand Rand monthly.

During this time, Morton and his wife embarked on a successful venture, starting an ice cream business that became a pivotal period for building wealth. However, the financial landscape shifted dramatically when Morton's contract with Cape Town Spurs reduced his earnings to 30,000 Rand per month, a 67% pay cut from his peak earning period.

Despite this drop, Morton identified the smartest decision of his career as negotiating a promotion clause with Cape Town Spurs. This clause allowed his contract to double upon promotion, ultimately leading to a return to higher earnings, from 30 to 60 thousand Rand.
