Health minister warns contractors: Show progress or risk losing MOH projects

The Malaysian Health Minister has issued a stern warning to contractors involved in over 1,300 health facility development projects nationwide. Dr. Dzulkefly Ahmad stated that the Ministry of Health (MOH) will not tolerate unreasonable delays and will terminate contracts of contractors who fail to demonstrate physical progress on-site.

This action is necessary to ensure that projects are completed according to requirements, making the public's benefits available promptly and preventing the waste of public funds. The warning came during a meeting of the MOH's Development Action Council (MTPK) today, where the issue was highlighted alongside representatives from the Public Works Department (JKR) and the Finance Ministry.

The MOH is also working with JKR, state governments, and utility companies to resolve issues at the grassroots level. As of August, 10 major health facilities have been completed, including the Northern Region Blood Centre in Kedah and the Manjoi Klinik Kesihatan in Perak. Under the "Program Cakna Madani" initiative, 268 projects, or 37.75 percent, have been completed, ranging from enhancing rural clinic comfort to expanding haemodialysis center capacities and replacing obsolete equipment.

The Health Minister emphasized that he will ensure every sen of the national health allocation is invested in a healthcare system that is equitable, modern, and comfortable for all Malaysians.
