Govt Taking Comprehensive Reforms To Curb Exam Paper Leaks, Protect Future Of Youths: President President Murmu

New Delhi, Aug 14: President Droupadi Murmu emphasized that students are the architects of India's future and that the government is implementing extensive reforms to public examinations to eliminate paper leaks and unfair practices, ensuring transparency, security, and trustworthiness. In her address to the nation on India's 80th Independence Day, the president stressed the need for joint efforts to protect the present and future of students.

Public examinations serve as gateways to opportunities for students, and the government is taking comprehensive measures to reform these examinations, aiming to curb unfair means and enhance the examination system's transparency, security, and trustworthiness. The president's remarks are particularly relevant amid nationwide protests by Gen Z and students, demanding systemic overhauls, swift investigations, and stringent legal action following high-profile paper leak irregularities in competitive examinations.

Murmu highlighted the entrepreneurial spirit among young citizens, noting that many are embracing job creation rather than job seeking. The growing participation of young entrepreneurs has led to the development of a robust startup ecosystem in the country, attracting global enterprises impressed by the talent and dedication of Indian youth.

She commended the government's efforts to promote the physical and mental well-being of the youth as the foundation for the nation's future, emphasizing the collective responsibility of families and society to motivate them. The president also praised the sports sector as a crucial vehicle for youth development and nation-building under the Khelo India program, which has yielded significant improvements in sports achievements in international tournaments.

Murmu paid tribute to the Indian Armed Forces, citing Operation Sindoor as a demonstration of the forces' precision and commitment to combating terrorism, and reaffirming India's resolve to overcome threats to humanity.

On the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas and the one-year anniversary of Operation Sindoor, Murmu underscored the armed forces' unmatched valour, asserting that terror elements and their supporters will face consequences regardless of their location. She also addressed internal security, highlighting the significant achievement of eradicating Naxalism after decades of struggle, and the nation's progress in areas previously affected by Naxalism.

Highlighting India's cultural and civilizational heritage, the president noted the inclusion of Sarnath, Lord Buddha's first sermon site, in the UNESCO World Heritage List, alongside the listing of 12 Maratha military forts. In foreign policy, Murmu reiterated that peace, dialogue, cooperation, and the principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam remain central to India's international relations, emphasizing India's growing role among the Global South nations.

Additionally, she addressed senior care, noting that India's rapidly growing elderly population is now eligible for free healthcare services up to Rs 5 lakh per year under government schemes.
