Google’s best Pixel case in years still isn’t good enough to forget the fabric ones [Gallery]

Google's latest official Pixel case is both a step up and a step down, compared to the iconic fabric cases of early Pixel generations. This year, Google has offered two distinct official cases for the Pixel 11 lineup, including a stunning faux leather option for the Pixel 11 Pro Fold. The color-matched, non-slip design elevates the look of the foldable phone, at a premium price of $80.

However, the case's premium feel comes with a trade-off – it's more likely to remain untouched, due to its rarity among Google's accessories. Ironically, Google has seemingly abandoned the fabric cases that once set its Pixel phones apart from the competition. These fabric cases, available only on early Pixel generations, were unmatched in uniqueness and quality compared to the generic, boring clear cases now being produced.

Despite their durability concerns, fabric cases offered a level of style and individuality that Google has seemingly lost. Will Sattelberg summed up the issue perfectly during a recent Pixelated episode: Google is trying to position the Pixel 11 as a unique player in the smartphone market, and yet, the company is delivering generic, unremarkable accessories.
