Apple's M5 Pro MacBook Pro with 48GB RAM gets $300 price cut

Apple has added two more products to its list of obsolete devices, signaling the end of support for these items. The iPhone X, launched in 2017, joins the list as the first iPhone to feature a notch on its display. This design change marked a shift towards nearly bezel-less phones, with the exception of a camera/sensor cutout at the top.

Being on the obsolete list means that the iPhone X is no longer eligible for hardware service at Apple Stores or authorized service providers, and it will also not receive new versions of iOS. At nearly nine years old, the iPhone X is likely past its prime and may be a prime candidate for upgrading to a newer model.

Alongside the iPhone X, Apple has also added the 2018 15-inch MacBook Pro to its list of obsolete products. This machine was notable for its use of an Intel processor, which was phased out in favor of Apple's own silicon, starting with the introduction of the M1 chip in 2020. The MacBook Pro with Intel processors is now officially obsolete, marking the end of support for this specific model.

The addition of these devices to the obsolete list carries symbolic weight, as it coincides with the year Apple is expected to release another significantly different phone - the foldable iPhone Ultra. This suggests that Apple is moving towards a new design direction, potentially abandoning notches in favor of foldable displays.

Additionally, there are rumors of an upcoming iPhone 20 Pro with an all-glass, notched-free design set to launch in 2027. This could signal the beginning of the end for iPhones featuring camera cutouts in their displays.
