General : Fadillah Recovering Well After Successful Heart Bypass Surgery

KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof has been recovering well following successful heart bypass surgery on August 12 at the National Heart Institute (IJN). IJN Group CEO Prof Dr Mohamed Ezani Md Taib reported that Fadillah's treatment and recovery were progressing according to plan. In an effort to aid his early recovery, Fadillah completed a 2.8km cycling session under the supervision of IJN's clinical team.

He was then moved from the intensive care unit to the general ward on the same day. Currently, Fadillah is undergoing post-CABG cardiac rehabilitation. He was initially admitted on July 28 under the care of senior cardiologists Datuk Dr Shaiful Azmi Yahaya and Datuk Seri Dr Azmee Mohd Ghazi, along with Cardiology Clinical Fellows Dr Ow Jie Ken and Dr Fa iz Mashood.

The surgery was performed on August 12 by senior cardiothoracic surgeons Prof Dr Mohamed Ezani and Prof Dr Mohd Azhari Yakub, along with cardiothoracic and vascular surgery clinical fellow Dr Ahmad Mahir Shamsuddin. The entire procedure was conducted following IJN's Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocol, aimed at facilitating early mobilization, reducing complications, and ensuring a quicker and safer recovery.
