Flying for medical: Fabrizio Romano confirms £42.7m deal as Barcola closer to Liverpool transfer

Ferran Torres has been granted authorization to fly to Paris for a medical examination with PSG, according to reports from Fabrizio Romano on X (formerly Twitter). The French champions have settled on a €50m (£42.7m) guaranteed fee for the Spanish winger. This development brings Liverpool closer to signing Bradley Barcola in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Torres' imminent arrival at PSG suggests the team will be well-equipped on the right flank, even if Liverpool opts to release Ibrahim Mbaye. This significant progress in Liverpool's negotiations with PSG opens up additional options for Luis Enrique, who could potentially acquire Ajax's Mika Godts. Should PSG also sign Ajax's Mika Godts, Barcola's value is expected to decrease, making Liverpool's pursuit more feasible.

Liverpool's transfer fee for Barcola is estimated to be around £120m (£102.5m), which is £42.5m less than PSG's initial asking price of £145m. However, a compromise around the £120m (£140.3m) mark may be attainable, provided PSG believes they won't receive another superior offer. With Barcola's contract set to conclude in 2028, his value is projected to decline over the following transfer windows.
