EOCO inaugurates new audit committee to strengthen financial oversight

The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has officially launched a new audit committee aimed at enhancing internal controls, risk management and oversight of the institution's operations. The committee was officially established on Monday, August 10, 2026, by Bismark Aborbi-Ayitey, the Deputy Director-General for Finance, Administration and Support Services at the Internal Audit Agency (IAA), speaking on behalf of Acting Director-General Conrad Z. Dumbah.

Aborbi-Ayitey emphasized that the committee's duties are legally mandated and urged members to maintain confidentiality, submit reports promptly, and ensure that audit recommendations receive timely implementation. He also encouraged the committee to collaborate closely with EOCO's internal audit unit to bolster the organization's internal control systems.

EOCO's Executive Director, Raymond Archer, welcomed the new members and expressed gratitude to the previous committee for their contributions, warning that unresolved audit infractions could harm the institution's credibility. He assured the committee of the management's support in refining the internal audit processes.

Nathan Yankey, representing the IAA, was elected as the Chairperson of the new committee. In his acceptance remarks, he thanked the members for their trust and pledged to lead efforts to address audit infractions while improving EOCO's audit and risk management systems.
