Drug cartel boss extradited from UAE, Amit Shah stresses ‘ruthless approach’

Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced on Friday that fugitive drug kingpin Virender Singh Basoya was extradited from the UAE. Basoya was sought in connection with a major drug seizure case in India, where a Dubai-based cartel allegedly smuggled 1,289 kg of cocaine and 40 kg of Thai marijuana to Delhi in 2024. Shah emphasized the government's "ruthless approach" in tracking down drug traffickers hiding abroad and destroying their entire ecosystem.

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) played a crucial role in the extradition, tracing Basoya through a top-to-bottom and bottom-to-top approach, demonstrating that drug traffickers cannot escape Indian law, regardless of their location.
