Datuk Seri mengaku tak salah pecah amanah RM37.1 juta

Datuk Seri Zul Azmi Abu Hussin, aged 51, appeared before Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court, denying charges of breach of trust amounting to RM37.1 million in 2022. The accused, Zul Azmi, confessed before Judge Mohd Kafli Che Ali. Berita Harian reported that Zul Azmi was accused of being the mastermind behind Xspec Resources Sdn Bhd, which held financial assets, and misappropriating RM37,099,999.67 from a bank in Taman Tunku, Bukit Tunku, Kuala Lumpur, on February 15, 2022, according to Section 409 of the Penal Code.

If found guilty, he could face imprisonment for up to 20 years and a fine. Previously, Deputy Prosecutor Siti Suriatey Mohamed Yusoff requested the accused to provide a RM500,000 bail, along with a surety and surrender his passport until the case is concluded. However, Zul Azmi's lawyer, Edly Mohammad Firdaus, sought to reduce the amount to RM50,000 due to his client's family obligations, including his wife, five children, and parents, in addition to his wife's hypertension and high cholesterol.

The court subsequently permitted the accused to provide a RM100,000 bond with one surety and additional requirements as requested by the prosecutor, while setting the case for hearing on October 5.
