Datuk Seri mengaku tak salah pecah amanah RM37.1 juta

Datuk Seri Zul Azmi Abu Hussin, a businessman aged 51, appeared before the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court, denying allegations of breaking trust with a RM37.1 million company fund in 2022. The 51-year-old claimed his innocence before Judge Mohd Kafli Che Ali, as reported by Berita Harian. Zul Azmi is accused of being the mastermind behind Xspec Resources Sdn Bhd, a company that misused company funds, totaling RM37,099,999.67, in a bank located in Taman Tunku, Bukit Tunku, Kuala Lumpur, on February 15, 2022, according to Section 409 of the Penal Code.

If found guilty, he could face imprisonment for two to 20 years and a fine. Earlier, Deputy Prosecutor Siti Suriatey Mohamed Yusoff requested the accused to provide a RM500,000 surety bond with a guarantor and surrender his passport until the case is resolved. However, Zul Azmi's lawyer, Edly Mohammad Firdaus, requested the amount be reduced to RM50,000 due to his client's five children, a wife, an elderly mother, and health issues such as high cholesterol and blood pressure.

The court subsequently approved a RM100,000 surety bond with one guarantor, subject to additional conditions and the prosecutor's approval, with a hearing scheduled for October 5.
