Court stops Imo, police from disrupting Rep’s rallies

A Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja has issued an interim injunction restraining the Imo State Government, security agencies, and local government chairmen from interfering with the rallies, meetings, and other civic activities of Rep. Imo Ugochinyere. The court's order followed an ex parte application by Ugochinyere, seeking to prevent the defendants from disrupting his political and civic activities.

The injunction prohibits the defendants, including the Nigeria Police Force, Imo State Governor, and Imo State Signage and Advertisement Agency, from destroying, dismantling, or removing billboards and signages installed by Ugochinyere across Ideato North and South Federal Constituencies. The court also barred them from preventing Ugochinyere and his supporters from using venues for peaceful rallies and other civic activities within Ideato Federal Constituency or elsewhere in Imo State. The injunction aims to protect Ugochinyere's rights to expression, peaceful assembly, and movement.
