Count Binface wins hearts, if not the election, in bid to defeat Trump ally

Count Binface, a satirical candidate adorned with a garbage can on his head, achieved remarkable popularity in a recent by-election, securing over a quarter of the votes cast. Despite not winning the election, the candidate, whose real name is Jonathan Harvey, managed to earn back his deposit to run for office. This campaign was triggered by the resignation of Nigel Farage, a prominent British politician and ally of President Trump.

Binface's slogan, "I'm here to take out the trash," encapsulates his message to voters. The election saw a record-breaking 34 candidates, resulting in a long and comical paper ballot. Farage's resignation was aimed at sparking a "people versus the establishment" contest and was seen as a risky move to regain support. However, Binface's candidacy gained traction when all legitimate parties boycotted the election.

The by-election, which could be called at any time before August 2029, presents an opportunity for Binface to run again in the future.
