Cop martyred, another injured in terrorist attack on police post in Bajaur

In Bajaur district’s Barang tehsil, a terrorist attack on a police post left one officer dead and another injured early Friday morning. According to Mansoor Khan, the district police spokesperson, a group of terrorists attacked the police post in Kohi Sar area using rocket launchers and small arms. The police personnel at the scene responded promptly and began exchanging fire with the terrorists.

This intense confrontation lasted for several hours, resulting in two police personnel being wounded. Constable Zahir Shah, one of the injured officers, tragically passed away while being transported to a local hospital for treatment. The other wounded officer, Head Constable Amir Zada, was reported to be recovering well. The police personnel at the post bravely retaliated against the terrorists, successfully thwarting their nefarious plans, according to Khan.

The funeral prayers for the slain cop were held at Police Lines in Khar, where officials including Deputy Commissioner Adnan Farid and District Police Officer Khan Zeb Momand attended the ceremony. In recent months, the KP province has witnessed a surge in terrorist activities. A security assessment by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies reveals that 154 terrorism-related deaths occurred in July, up from 75 in June, marking a 105 percent increase.
