Carrick says Man United needs more signings and describes Rashford’s return as ‘exciting’

Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has urged the club to make more summer signings, stating that the current investment remains below that of Premier League rivals. During the offseason, United spent around £85 million on three players – midfielders Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans and goalkeeper Karl Darlow – while also bringing back Marcus Rashford from his loan at Barcelona.

Carrick, heading into his first full season as manager in the Champions League, believes United should aim for further improvement, despite having a strong squad. He acknowledges that Chelsea, Manchester City, and Tottenham have each signed more expensive players, including Morgan Rodgers, Elliot Anderson, and Sandro Tonali for over £100 million each. However, Carrick remains positive about United's situation and emphasizes the importance of maximizing the current team, while pushing for more success.

Rashford returned to United this week after the World Cup, as Barcelona refused to exercise their option to buy the England winger following his loan spell. When asked if Rashford might be for sale, Carrick affirmed that he remains a key player to the team, offering a unique dynamic and expressing excitement about his continued contribution. Manchester United, holding the record for the most English league titles with 20, last won the Premier League in 2013.
