BofA recruta Greg Reider, ex-Warburg Pincus, para liderar tech no Brasil

Bank of America recently hired Gregory Reider, formerly of Warburg Pincus, to lead its technology and fintech division in Brazil and Latin America. Reider spent nearly a decade at Warburg Pincus in Brazil before founding venture capital firm Volpe Capital with André Maciel. Before that, he worked at Credit Suisse IB and Lazard in New York for five years, and was a partner at BR Partners for about two years.

Reider will take over the position previously held by Pedro Pereira, who left the bank in March after 15 years to become CFO of iFood. Reider joins Bank of America on Monday, reporting to Bruno Saraiva and Hans Lins, the co-heads of IB in Brazil. Saraiva notes that Reider's deep relationships in the tech sector will be crucial as the vertical gains more representation in the bank's business over the coming years.

Tech fees in Brazil have been steadily growing, rising from 5.5% in 2021 to 9.1% in 2024 and 18.3% this year, according to Dealogic data. Saraiva believes the share could nearly double in the next five years, reaching 30%. She expects a pipeline of companies in the "VC track" with strong founders and competitive moats ready for IPOs in the U.S. in the next 12 to 24 months.

Bank of America has been advising on several tech IPOs recently, including Picpay, Matera, Softplan, and the sales of Conta Azul to Vismo and Clearsale to Experian. The bank has consistently led the Dealogic ranking of tech fee pools in Brazil, with a 21.8% share this year, up from 39.3% last year.
