BN-PN pact stronger if planned from outset, says Hamzah

Wawasan president Hamzah Zainudin believes a strong and stable cooperation between Barisan Nasional (BN) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) could be achieved if both alliances establish a shared plan and agenda from the start. He pointed out that past BN-PN governments lacked this advance planning, making it challenging for the parties to build trust.

Hamzah, speaking to FMT, noted that the recent understanding between BN and PN was planned. He likened political cooperation to forming a company, emphasizing that all parties must understand their roles and responsibilities from day one. The opposition leader stressed that the latest cooperation should revolve around a common goal of country development, ensuring all Malaysians benefit, allowing for systematic planning of economic and educational policies aligned with the Reset agenda he proposed.

He underscored the need for systematic planning, identifying issues, and correcting them right from the beginning. Hamzah also highlighted the necessity of a seat allocation formula acceptable to both parties in the cooperation agreement, extending beyond the Melaka state election. He stressed that the BN and PN must consider their respective strengths and weaknesses in every state when planning cooperation, rather than limiting it to specific states like Melaka.

While acknowledging the desire of parties to defend the seats they hold, Hamzah suggested that overly rigid positions could hinder finding common ground. He proposed BN and PN to make reciprocal compromises, including concessions in one state in exchange for cooperation in others. Hamzah emphasized the importance of considering the broader national picture, not just focusing on the seats currently held by each coalition.

He also welcomed BN’s top leaders' willingness to discuss future cooperation, viewing it as a positive development that should be taken into account by all parties.
