Beri perwakilan DAP pilihan jika mengundi kekal dalam kerajaan, kata Ramkarpal

DAP Deputy Chief Secretary Ramkarpal Singh has urged delegates at the party's special congress to reconsider any decision to remain in the government, should compelling reasons arise, for the sake of the party's interests. In a statement, Ramkarpal suggested a small grace period might be necessary if red lines are crossed, such as the establishment of an Umno faction that seeks to beg forgiveness from former Prime Minister Najib Razak.

Whether this is called a departure clause or not, it is clearly for the party's benefit, he said. Ramkarpal believes that the decision of remaining in government by the remaining parliamentary constituency could be re-evaluated by the delegates if compelling reasons arise in the future. He clarified that representatives should have the freedom to re-evaluate their decision to remain in government (should they choose to do so on Sunday) if compelling reasons arise in the future.

DAP delegates will decide by the end of the week whether the party should remain or withdraw from remaining parliamentary seats for the general election. On Wednesday, DAP Perak narrowly voted to remain in the unity government to secure a general election promise. Yesterday, former Bangi MP Ong Kian Ming listed three potential reasons for delegates to vote to remain in the cabinet, including ensuring the approval of the 2027 Budget in October.

He said the only strong reason for a delegate to vote to keep the DAP leader out of the cabinet was to urge Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to implement at least some political reform before the next general election.
