Ato Forson hands over Defence Ministry to Kenneth Gilbert Adjei

Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has officially transferred the Ministry of Defence to the newly appointed Defence Minister, Kenneth Gilbert Adjei. Dr Ato Forson had been serving as acting Defence Minister for nearly a year after the tragic helicopter crash in August 2025 that claimed the life of the previous substantive minister, Dr Edward Omane Boamah.

During a handover ceremony today, Dr Ato Forson and Mr Adjei exchanged the necessary paperwork to officially conclude the transition process. In his speech, Dr Ato Forson praised Mr Adjei's appointment and pledged his continued support as the new minister assumes his duties. The handover ceremony saw the presence of officials and staff from the Ministry of Defence, who joined the outgoing and incoming ministers for photographs to commemorate the change in leadership.

Mr Adjei now stands as the permanent head of the Ministry, tasked with overseeing its operations and responsibilities. The transition was deemed smooth, with Defense Minister Kwakye Ofosu expressing confidence in Mr Adjei's ability to manage the Ministry effectively.
