Arsenal express interest in signing Quansah

Arsenal has shown interest in signing Bayer Leverkusen defender Jarell Quansah, according to BBC Sport. The 23-year-old defender has been linked with a potential move to the Gunners, who are currently in exploratory talks with the Bundesliga club. Sources suggest that a deal for Quansah is possible, despite Aston Villa's Ezri Konsa being a target for the club as well.

Konsa's value is estimated to be around £60 million, while Arsenal believes the 28-year-old is worth closer to £40 million. Quansah, a versatile defender who can play at both centre-back and right-back, could be a suitable replacement for Arsenal, who will be without William Saliba for the start of their Premier League season due to a back injury sustained at the World Cup.

Jurrien Timber, another Arsenal defender, is also struggling to recover from an ankle injury. Liverpool has the option to match any offer for Quansah, but it is believed they have no intention of doing so. Quansah played a key role in England's World Cup campaign, starting three games and scoring five goals in 44 appearances for Leverkusen last season.

However, he was sent off in the last-16 match against Mexico, forcing him to miss the quarter-final and the subsequent defeat by Argentina.
