Adeleke campaign backs Tinubu’s directive for police neutrality

The Imole Campaign Council, the support organization for Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, has endorsed President Bola Tinubu’s order for the police and security forces to maintain impartiality and professionalism during the state’s gubernatorial election on Saturday. Speaking in Osogbo, the council’s spokesman Pelumi Olajengbesi emphasized the importance of the directive in safeguarding voters and ensuring the legitimacy of the electoral process.

Olajengbesi also highlighted the President's instructions to the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, and other security leaders to provide robust security at polling stations and protect voters. The campaign council welcomed the President’s call for a transparent, fair, and free election overseen by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

However, the council expressed worry over the police’s past lack of professional neutrality, urging the force to remain impartial during voting. The Imole Campaign Council urged the police to obey Tinubu’s order and carry out their duties objectively on election day. The council also called on the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, to ensure the directive’s compliance.

They warned against intimidation and emphasized the need for all eligible voters to exercise their right to vote freely. The council encouraged Osun residents to participate in the electoral process.
