Actor Kim Min-hee attends Locarno film fest with director Hong Sang-soo

Seoul experienced a notable event on August 14 when actor Kim Min-hee and her long-time partner, director Hong Sang-soo, made their first public appearance together following the birth of their son at the Locarno Film Festival. The couple attended the screening of Hong's latest film, "Nowhere to Lay My Eyes," which was featured in the international competition section of the 79th edition of the prestigious Swiss festival.

Kim, who welcomed her first child with Hong last year, appeared to be enjoying the experience as she engaged in conversation with the audience after the screening. The director's 35th feature film, "Nowhere to Lay My Eyes," tells the story of Sang-hee, portrayed by Kim, who travels to the southern Korean island of Jeju to locate her ex-divorced mother, whom she last saw ten years prior. In addition to her acting role, Kim also took on the position of production manager for the film.

This marked Hong's fifth appearance at the Locarno film fest, where he had previously won the best director award for "Our Sunhi" in 2013 and the top Golden Leopard prize for "Right Now, Wrong Then" in 2015. Meanwhile, Kim herself had previously won the best performance award for her role in Hong's 2024 film, "By the Stream."
