Absa, Impact Food Hub empower agribusiness entrepreneurs for growth

Absa Bank Ghana collaborated with Impact Food Hub to conclude the Agribusiness Launchpad and Accelerator Programme 2.0, a three-day capacity-building initiative for agribusiness entrepreneurs. The event, held at Absa Bank’s headquarters, provided practical skills, technical knowledge, and industry insights to strengthen and scale sustainable businesses.

Absa Bank Ghana's Managing Director, Edward Nartey Botchway, emphasized the need to convert Ghana's agricultural potential into globally competitive products, highlighting the importance of funding, systems, and knowledge in business growth. Impact Food Hub Founder and Convenor, Dr Mavis Owureku-Asare, stated that the program aimed to equip participants with the necessary tools to turn ideas into sustainable businesses and achieve long-term growth.

The program covered essential topics such as product development, food processing, safety, quality standards, manufacturing practices, packaging, regulatory compliance, and financial management. Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture, John Dumelo, urged participants to focus on value addition to agricultural produce and develop the capacity to market and add value to their products.

Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, Member of Parliament for Klottey-Korle, called for financial institutions to create financing solutions tailored to the unique risks of agribusiness and provide entrepreneurs with the necessary support for resilient businesses. Absa Bank Ghana also facilitated a session on accessing finance, offering participants insights into financing opportunities and building better-positioned businesses for funding.

Since 2019, Absa Bank Ghana has supported over 5,000 businesses and disbursed more than GH¢700 million to Ghana's agribusiness sector.
