2027: Kwara APC leaders join forces with Saraki over tickets

In 2027, Kwara APC leaders have joined forces with Former Senate President Bukola Saraki to secure political tickets ahead of the upcoming elections. The encounter between Saraki and Senator Saliu Mustapha, representing Kwara Central, initially drew attention as it appeared to be a chance meeting. However, the growing contacts between Saraki's camp, the PDP, and members of the aggrieved APC bloc, known as the G-15 or 'The Otoge Progressives (TOP)', have raised political speculation.

The G-15 consists of top APC governorship aspirants like Ambassador Yahaya Seriki and Senator Oloriegbe, among others.

Sources indicate that the PDP authorized Saraki to engage the G-15 and that the negotiations have been driven by the desire to bring together politicians opposed to the current political arrangement in the state. Discussions are ongoing, with a target of reaching a clearer agreement by November, with a major announcement planned for Friday.

The G-15 has asked for political concessions, including potential Senate, House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly positions. Meanwhile, the PDP is reportedly considering offering two senatorial seats, three House of Representatives seats, and 10 State Assembly seats.

The Saraki team is being led by former PDP national chairman Alhaji Kawu Baraje, while the G-15 team includes former Commissioner for Water Resources AbdulMumini Katibi, Senator Sulieman Ajadi, and others. The negotiations have also drawn attention from another group of aggrieved politicians known as the G100. However, despite the progress in talks, some politicians argue that reconciling within the APC would have been a preferred option.

Nevertheless, the G-15 remains open to working with the PDP to challenge the APC in Kwara, while still maintaining support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the national level.
