Yemeni forces say Houthi attack repelled in Taiz amid escalation

Taiz Governor Nabil Shamsan has condemned the recent attack on the Mokha port and civilian sites, labeling it as a severe breach of international humanitarian law. He stated that such shelling of Mokha port and civilian facilities is a serious violation that demands condemnation, accountability, and measures to deter similar actions in the future.

Shamsan emphasized the threat these attacks pose to civilian lives and the disruption they cause to economic and humanitarian interests. He urged the international community to fulfill its responsibilities in addressing the escalation and violations, and to safeguard civilian infrastructure and civilians. Shamsan expressed strong condemnation of the targeted attack on Mokha city and port by Houthi militants, describing it as a direct assault on a crucial economic facility and a threat to civilian safety.

In the recent hours, the Houthis launched a barrage of 44 drones towards Mokha port and civilian sites along the western coast. Air defenses successfully intercepted 15 drones, while three out of six attempts to use boats laden with explosives against Mokha port were thwarted.
