Who Might Replace Karoline Leavitt as Press Secretary?

As White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt prepares to resign at the end of the month, speculation is growing over who will replace her. Leavitt, who joined the administration at the start of President Donald Trump's second term in January, is the youngest person ever to hold the position. President Trump announced her departure on Wednesday, stating that she will focus on her family but will remain a top advisor and influential voice within the Republican Party.

Leavitt recently thanked President Trump in a post on X for her decision to prioritize her two young children. While the White House has not yet disclosed any specific candidate, several names have emerged as potential contenders for the Press Secretary role. Alina Habba, Trump's former personal lawyer, is reportedly an early frontrunner.

Habba joined Trump's legal team in 2021 and has become a prominent public voice in his defense during the 2024 hush-money trial. Trump has named her as his presidential counselor, and he nominated her for the U.S. attorney role in New Jersey, though her confirmation faced challenges in the Senate. Matthew Boyle, the Washington bureau chief of Breitbart, is also considered a strong candidate.

Boyle has interviewed Trump multiple times, including in the Oval Office. Scott Jennings, a Trump defender and MAGA political commentator, is another name often mentioned. Jennings has served as special assistant to the president under George W. Bush and has worked on several presidential campaigns. Anna Kelly, White House deputy secretary, and Tricia McLaughlin, a former DHS assistant secretary for public affairs, are also reportedly being considered.

Katie Miller, a conservative podcaster and former staff member, and Steven Cheung, the current White House Communications Director, are additional names being floated as potential replacements for Leavitt.
