Vande Bharat Sleeper and Amrit Bharat Trains continue to Receive Overwhelming Passenger Response across NFR

The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) continues to witness a strong demand for modern, comfortable and efficient rail connectivity services like the Vande Bharat Sleeper and Amrit Bharat trains. During the first half of 2026, NFR introduced 14 pairs of such trains, including Vande Bharat Sleeper services, Amrit Bharat trains, and long-distance Mail/Express and Mail/Express Intercity trains.

The Vande Bharat Sleeper service between Kamakhya and Howrah has been particularly popular, with Train No. 27576 Kamakhya–Howrah reaching 103% occupancy, while Train No. 27575 Howrah–Kamakhya reached 126%. Amrit Bharat services have also shown high demand, with Train No. 20609 New Jalpaiguri–Tiruchchirappalli achieving 159% occupancy, and Train No. 20610 Tiruchchirappalli–New Jalpaiguri reaching 150% occupancy.

Train No. 20603 New Jalpaiguri–Nagercoil recorded 173% occupancy, while Train No. 20604 Nagercoil–New Jalpaiguri had 160% occupancy.

Other services have also enjoyed strong passenger response, with Train No. 15671 Kamakhya–Rohtak at 138%, Train No. 15950 Gomti Nagar–Dibrugarh at 144%, Train No. 16597 SMVT Bengaluru–Alipurduar Jn. at 151%, and Train No. 15673 Charlapalli–Kamakhya at 135%. These high occupancy figures indicate a growing preference for enhanced rail connectivity between the Northeast and other major destinations in the country. The encouraging response reflects the strong demand for comfortable, convenient, and improved train services.
