Couple arrested after drugs found at home with young children

Singapore authorities arrested a couple on Tuesday after finding drugs and drug paraphernalia in their home, where their two young sons were present. The 25-year-old man and 24-year-old woman, both Singaporeans, were taken into custody following a raid by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) at a residential unit in Marsiling early Tuesday morning.

The CNB seized small amounts of various drugs, including cannabis, Ice, ecstasy, and drug-making equipment from different parts of the flat, including the master bedroom where the children were found. The children, aged three years and seven months, were placed in the care of their next of kin, according to the CNB. Superintendent Xanthus Tong, deputy commanding officer of Enforcement J, emphasized that drug abuse has far-reaching impacts beyond the individuals directly involved, affecting families and loved ones, including young children.

CNB stated that they will enforce strict action against anyone who exposes children to drugs and urged parents to keep their children away from drugs and their associated harms. Those aged 21 years or older who expose a child to controlled drugs or drug paraphernalia or fail to prevent a young person from consuming controlled drugs can face prosecution. Investigations into the couple's drug activities are ongoing.
