US saw most cases of attack on Indians abroad in 2021-25: MEA

In the past five years, 2021 to 2025, the United States recorded the highest number of attacks on Indians living abroad, according to government figures presented in Parliament. A total of 33 such incidents were reported from the US during this period. The United Arab Emirates followed closely with 32 attacks on Indian nationals, while the United Kingdom and Canada reported 31 and 30 attacks, respectively.

Ireland, a country that has recently witnessed a surge in racist attacks against Indians, accounted for 24 cases of violence against Indians during the same timeframe. The Minister of State for External Affairs, Kirti Vardhan Singh, emphasized that the safety and security of Indians abroad is the top priority of the government. Indian Missions and Posts remain vigilant and closely monitor any untoward incidents affecting Indian nationals abroad.

Any such incidents are promptly reported to the authorities of the host country to ensure a thorough investigation and that the perpetrators are held accountable under their domestic laws, Singh stated in response to a written question in the Rajya Sabha.
