In an urgent move, the Guardia Civil has begun installing a new maritime barrier along Melilla's southern perimeter, mirroring the barrier set up at Ceuta's El Tarajal pier after a large influx of migrants crossed the Mediterranean on foot. The aim is to "strengthen control" at the maritime border. Meanwhile, the State Prosecutor, Ángel Gabilondo, has taken the initiative to examine the measures taken and those still needing to be implemented by various administrations to address the humanitarian crisis in Ceuta.

The institution addressed the Secretariat of State for Migration via letter, requesting information on the conditions of the individuals remaining in Ceuta, many of whom are minors. They have been sleeping in the elements due to the saturation of the Migrant Temporary Residence Center and the lack of alternative accommodation. Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska met in Ceuta with Miguel Ángel Pérez, the government's delegate, and Commanders of the National Police and Guardia Civil to assess the situation in the autonomous city. Later, he is scheduled to speak with Ceuta's Mayor, Juan Jesús Vivas.
