Twitch is using your content to train Amazons AI. Heres how to opt out.

Twitch creators recently discovered that their content is being utilized to train Amazon's artificial intelligence systems. Upon noticing a "Training for Generative AI" setting in their account security options, they expressed dissatisfaction. The description states that allowing this feature means the platform can use your content to enhance future Generative AI models.

Amazon's FAQs explain that "Generative AI content models are AI tools that can help create or synthesize content outputs like text or images when given instructions or prompts because they are also trained on content." By enabling this feature, your audio or other content may contribute to refining models for various Amazon services, such as improving speech-to-text captions across their platforms.

During a recent livestream, Twitch's chief product officer, Mike Minton, admitted to the decision. "There's an honest answer," he said, explaining that if the option were opt-in, no creators would likely choose to participate. Consequently, the "Training for Generative AI" toggle appears by default in Twitch settings. To opt out, navigate to your profile picture, proceed to Settings, then Security and Privacy, and switch the toggle off.
