Trump confirms he switched planes after Nato summit because of possible threat

Former President Donald Trump revealed that he changed planes while departing a NATO summit in Turkey last month due to a potential threat. The move, announced on Tuesday, raised questions about the safety of those on the decoy aircraft. Trump claimed that the alternate plane he transferred to might have been more vulnerable because it was the one more likely to be targeted.

The US had received credible intelligence suggesting an Iranian threat to launch a missile at the plane. Intelligence sources reported a person near the summit with a shoulder-fired missile. Journalists and some White House staff on board were unaware of the president's covert relocation. Trump, who had boarded Air Force One on July 8 for television cameras, secretly moved to a catering truck, which was elevated to plane level, before boarding a smaller C-32A military aircraft used primarily by the Vice President.
