Torrevieja Mayor Demands Immediate Tender for N-332 Widening

Torrevieja Mayor Eduardo Dolón has demanded the immediate tender and construction of the N-332 widening scheme, accusing the Spanish government of abandoning the town. Dolón sent a letter to the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, following over 100 unanswered requests for a meeting with Transport Minister Óscar Puente or senior project officials. The mayor emphasized that the lack of dialogue is not a rejection of him or the council, but a snub to Torrevieja's residents and visitors.

The N-332 sees over 60,000 vehicles daily, with traffic increasing during holidays, causing congestion, lengthy journey times, and difficulties for motorists entering or leaving the town. Dolón blamed Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and Transport Minister Óscar Puente for the delay, noting that the promised tender for the project in 2025 has yet to materialize.

Dolón highlighted that the government's failure to tender the project after years of demands and promises is shameful. He criticized the government for not providing a firm timeline or explanation for the project's status, only receiving administrative acknowledgements from the minister's office.

The mayor expressed his frustration with broken promises and institutional disregard, promising to continue pressing for the tender until it is launched and the road improvements are completed. Dolón urged the Spanish government to immediately tender the widening of the N-332 and provide Torrevieja with the safe and adequate transport connections it requires.
