Thread user apologises over doctored image of MP in bridal gown

A former Penang PKR youth leader, Nur Mushawwir Hrsikesa Thaitchana Muruthi, has issued an apology to Hulu Terengganu MP Rosol Wahid after uploading a doctored image of him dressed in a bridal gown on the social media platform Threads. Mushawir, who is no longer active in politics, stated that he would delete the post and issue a public apology on Threads.

He expressed regret for his action, explaining that he was no longer involved in politics and held no political position. Rosol had demanded an apology over the image, which he found highly inappropriate and intended to humiliate him, damaging his reputation as a Muslim and an MP. He had considered taking legal action against Mushawir and anyone who reposted the image.

Rosol also criticized the act as crossing boundaries and etiquette prescribed in Islam. The image showed Rosol in the Dewan Rakyat, edited to appear as if he was wearing a white bridal gown, unlike the actual parliamentary sitting, which was represented by Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
