They came to Mumbai seeking work and a better life. Then the hillock collapsed

Many people migrated to Mumbai in pursuit of work and a better life. However, they faced a tragic fate when a portion of a hill collapsed in Kurla, claiming the lives of seven individuals. Among the victims were two young children, a 30-year-old man celebrating his birthday, a 14-year-old boy brought to the city for work, and a family that had only recently moved from Uttar Pradesh.

Vikit Ramesh Yadav, the 30-year-old delivery worker whose birthday it was, had only recently started earning more steadily and had begun a small online business. Samir Ansari, the 14-year-old who joined his father's small business, was also among the deceased. Similarly, Mohammad Arif Shaikh, a 45-year-old tailor who had moved his family to Mumbai for more space, lost his life along with his wife and two children.

The youngest victim, a four-year-old named Mannat, had arrived in the city just two days prior to the disaster. Finally, 19-year-old Sahil Husen Abdul Kazi, who had come to Mumbai to earn for his family, was also among the casualties.
