Nasharudin Shariff, Deputy Chief of Police in Negeri Sembilan, reported that a 20-year-old suspect was shot three days after he was released from the firing range near Menyala Forest, Port Dickson. Police made an application to the senior deputy registrar at the Seremban Senior Magistrate's Court for permission to interrogate the suspect, according to Harian Metro.

The suspect, who is aged 20, was granted permission to be detained for three days until August 15 to complete the investigation. The police stated that the firearm used in the incident was also stolen, and further investigations are being conducted to determine the root cause, which may involve Section 37 of the Firearms Act 1960 and Section 337 of the Police Regulation Act.

The victim, a 20-year-old male, is in stable condition and is being treated at Tuanku Jaafar Hospital in Seremban. The extent of the victim's injuries is yet to be confirmed as the official medical report is pending. Earlier, a military spokesperson reported that one of their colleagues sustained injuries to the right cheek and lower left jaw during a shooting drill at the Sungai Menyala firing range in Port Dickson yesterday.

The incident occurred when the colleague was practicing firing at a target from a distance of 25 meters, unaware that a victim was behind the target. The medical examination revealed no internal injuries, and the victim, who was in stable condition, was discharged for further treatment.
