Social Policy Ministry secures over UAH 2.2 bln in intl aid for winter support to vulnerable groups

The Ministry of Social Policy, Family, and Unity of Ukraine has secured more than UAH 2.2 billion in international aid for winter support to vulnerable groups, according to wire material. This substantial financial assistance comes from UNICEF and the Ukrainian Red Cross Society (URCS) and underscores the trust in Ukraine's mechanisms for providing aid.

The press service highlighted Minister Denys Uliutin's statement, confirming the creation of a mechanism that facilitates international and humanitarian organizations in supporting Ukrainians via the country's social protection system, ensuring rapid, transparent, and effective aid distribution. As winter approaches, UNICEF, with funding from Germany, Norway, Sweden, the United Kingdom, and the United States, along with national committees, will offer cash assistance to vulnerable families residing near the front lines.

The funds aim to provide critical support to these households and their children during the coldest winter months. Under the initiative, over 104,000 households will receive a one-time payment of UAH 19,400. The URCS, backed by the U.S. government, has already transferred UAH 223.8 million to the winter assistance program for vulnerable Ukrainians during the 2026/2027 heating season.

These funds will be utilized to finance the winter support program for vulnerable Ukrainians, allowing households to decide how best to utilize the cash – whether for fuel, warm clothing, utility bills, or other winter-related expenses. Payments will be processed through the Pension Fund of Ukraine using established state payment methods, ensuring swift delivery of aid to those in need.
