Global geopolitical tensions and supply chain disruptions are reshaping consumer spending patterns, prompting Malaysians to become more cautious with their finances and prioritize daily needs, reports Bernama. In response, the government has implemented various measures to mitigate the impact on consumers. With rising prices for goods and living essentials, many residents in Negeri Sembilan are now more disciplined in managing their expenditure.

Shop owner Aliff Amran, 33, explained that while they cannot control global events, they can adapt their lifestyle and find ways to continue surviving. Similarly, marketing executive G Dharnes, 25, conceded that living expenses have increased slightly, but feels the situation in Malaysia remains manageable compared to other countries.

Dharnes emphasized the importance of continued financial discipline and noted that the government is continuing initiatives to alleviate the burden on the public. Pharmacy owner Koo Oi Sen, 50, said that medicine and pharmacy supplies in his area are still sufficient and stable, with no shortage of essential items. He hopes efforts to ensure the stability of supply and fair pricing will continue to support both consumers and businesses in navigating the uncertain economic landscape.

The global supply chain crisis, caused by geopolitical tensions and international disruptions, has put pressure on energy prices, logistics costs, and several commodities, including Malaysia. To address the situation, the government has established the Crisis Management Unit, continuous monitoring of supplies and prices, and developed a Global Supply Chain Crisis Dashboard.

The dashboard, created by the Ministry of Economics and the Malaysian Statistics Department, allows the public to track developments related to supplies, prices, and the country's supply chain almost in real-time.
