Seyi Makinde picks former DSS DG as APM presidential running mate

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has selected former Director-General of the Department of State Services, Lawal Musa Daura, as his running mate for the 2027 presidential election. The announcement was made at the APM's National Convention in Bauchi, where Makinde emphasized that the election is not merely about securing power, but about giving Nigerians a genuine choice for their country's future.

He urged the new leadership to collaborate with other opposition parties to present a credible alternative to voters. Makinde stressed that the 2027 campaign should focus on measurable outcomes and improvements in citizens' lives, not just policy declarations. He argued that economic policies should be judged by citizens' purchasing power and that employment and agricultural policies should be assessed based on their tangible impact on people's lives.

On security, the governor argued that it should be measured by whether Nigerians can live and work without fear. The Oyo State governor also highlighted the need for opposition candidates to demonstrate what they would do differently and the measurable improvements voters should expect if they are elected.
