Sandustry, the factory game where every single pixel is a resource you can build with, is out in early access

This month has been quite fruitful for games with a sand theme. While Sandcastle, a sandbox game, received a demo earlier, Sandustry has now been released. Unlike Sandcastle, which focuses on building castles, Sandustry involves constructing entire factories while uncovering the secrets of an ancient civilization. Developer Lantto Games describes Sandustry as a survival/factory automation game, where every pixel is a resource ready to be mined, mixed, processed, or destroyed.

Some pixels can be used to build large, intricate factories that produce various technologies, which interact with each other in physically realistic ways. For example, sand can absorb water, making it easier to sift for gold, and ice can melt when heated. The game also features unique chemical reactions between different pixels.

Each world in Sandustry is procedurally generated and completely destructible, allowing players to embark on a destructive rampage if they choose. However, the developer prefers the idea of constructing production lines to make life easier. The game also includes mysterious artifacts from the ancient civilization, and as it is built with modding in mind, players can expect a variety of unique building options over time.

Please note that this is an early access release, so not everything may be fully implemented yet. The game is fully playable, and all features mentioned on the Steam page can be found within the game itself. Sandustry is set to be in early access for approximately a year, with the price potentially increasing after that point.
