LIV set to cancel season-ending Team Championship

LIV Golf has been informed that its season-ending Team Championship scheduled for later this month may be canceled, according to BBC Sport. The event in Michigan is no longer accepting ticket sales online, with the official website indicating that ground passes and hospitality passes are unavailable. Reports suggest that the next tournament in Indiana is the likely final event of the 2026 campaign.

However, LIV Golf has not officially announced this decision, as former world number one Jon Rahm might depart from the league. The European DP World Tour warns its members, who are also LIV players, that conditional release agreements for 2027 are unlikely to be granted. Nine players, including Rahm, signed such deals this year, allowing them to compete on both tours without facing new disciplinary actions.

But they may face significant fines and tournament suspensions if they continue in a reduced LIV program next season. LIV Golf recently secured a lead investor for 2027 after Saudi Arabian financial backing ended in April. The unnamed investor's agreement has been approved by the LIV Golf board, with the deal expected to be finalized in September.

LIV Golf plans to reduce its number of events to 10, with five in the United States and five worldwide, starting next season.
