RM19,000 in alleged bribes lands Pahang agency official in MACC custody

KUANTAN, Aug 13 — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has apprehended a female government agency official from Pahang on charges of soliciting and accepting bribes totaling approximately RM19,000 in order to facilitate tenders and contracts at another government agency in the state. According to sources, the 30-something woman was taken into custody at around 6:45pm yesterday while providing a statement at the Temerloh MACC office.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect committed these acts between 2016 and 2021, transferring the bribes directly into her personal bank account. She has been held for five days, until Aug 19, following a court order from Magistrate Anis Adlina Abu Johan at the Kuantan Magistrate’s Court. Pahang MACC director Mohamad Shukor Mahmud confirmed the arrest, stating that the case is under investigation under Section 16(a)(B) of the MACC Act 2009.
