‘Respect Chandrasekaran’s decision’: Group on Tata Sons chairman's call to step down

On August 12, 2026, Tata Trusts announced that its nominee directors had received an email from Chairman N Chandrasekaran of Tata Sons Private Limited. In the message, Mr. Chandrasekaran stated his intention not to seek reappointment as Chairman upon the expiration of his current term on February 20, 2027. The Sir Dorabji Tata Trust (SDTT) expressed its respect for Mr. Chandrasekaran's decision, acknowledging the immense contribution he made during his decade-long stewardship of Tata Sons and the Tata group.

In response to Mr. Chandrasekaran's announcement, the SDTT announced its intention to establish a Selection Committee to recommend a candidate for the position of the new Chairman of the Board of Directors.
